Hilda HARDMAN
June 25th 2008
Memorial ID: 1005007128

At Maidstone Hospital on 25th June 2008 aged 85 years. Hilda had been fighting her illness for many years but finally passed away peacefully in the local hospital where she had been so well cared for. Her husband Stanley had been to see her just before she passed away.
The funeral service took place in the local Church, St Margaret's, just down the road, and along with the family, many of Hilda's new friends filled the church for the service. A wet day became a sunny interlude whilst Hilda was carried into the ancient Church. As everyone gathered "You Raised Me Up" by John Groben welcomed them into the Church for the truly fitting service lead by Reverend Patrick Amos. Kay's children Nicola and Karen read during the service, and they included words from cousins Christopher and Kim in America in the tributes to Hilda. Some very funny memories were shared, and not a few tears were shed too! Hilda was a very well loved member of the family, not just a distant elderly relation, but she was in close contact with the younger generation. Stanley was unable to speak to the congregation, but after almost 65 years of marriage, there was not much more to be said. After singing the chosen hymns, the service in Church drew to a close and the immediate family departed for the Committal al the local crematorium. "Unforgetable" by Nat King Cole played in the Church as we left, and friends went to the reception to await the return of the family. After the short committal service, family members selected flowers from the family tribute for pressing as they recalled Hilda would have been able to do so easily. The following day, the immediate family gathered again at Church for the interment of ashes. After this final act, all the remaining flowers were taken apart and the petals sprinkled onto the ashes casket. Again the sun shone on the family as they stood together beside the plot and shared final memeories of Hilda before Brenda leaves for home.
Family and friends are encouraged to share memories in the following book of condolence.
